President Ruto Makes Six New Parastatal Appointments

President William Ruto has made six new parastatal appointments across various state-owned corporations.

In a gazette notice dated January 19, 2023, President Ruto appointed Abdi Bare Duale to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company for a period of three years.

He will immediately take over from Brig. (Rtd.) David Azangu Ngaira whose appointment has been revoked.

Dr. Charles Githinji has likewise been named the Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, a position he will hold for the next three years.

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces appoint Charles Githinji (DR.) to be the Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board. The appointment of James Mandere Rogers Atebe (Dr.) is revoked,” reads the notice.

Ruto has also ordered that Sophy Nekoye Waliula serve as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Youth Advisory Board, for a period of three years, effective January 20, 2023.

Fatma Bakari Barayan has been named Non-Executive Chairperson of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund Board by President Ruto. She will assume the position, which she will hold for the next three years, effective today.

Phillip Mong’ony will also serve as Chairperson of the State Corporations Advisory Committee for a period of three years according to the gazette notice which has also announced the appointment of Surum Ipato Korema as Chairperson of the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board for the next six years.

Korema will replace Agnes Mantaine Pareiyo whose appointment has been revoked.
